This marks the 3rd anniversary of NEAS visiting the East Coast Camaro Club’s Show n’ Shine event held at the Budweiser plant in Merrimack New Hampshire. And once again this event failed to disappoint me. My Good friends Al and Chris were there with me as well as many of Al’s friends. And being at a SHow with friends, that’s always cool
I almost did not go. I mean, come on right? this is the 3rd year in a row we are writing about this show. What else could we possibly see? What could be New? I mean “Been there done that” right?
one thing I have learned about myself is that I like returning to venues. sure we saw some of the same cars we already saw in previous years. but sometimes that’s comforting. I like that the Olds 442 that I saw last year returned this year. But I saw new machines as well. Or maybe I just noticed machines that I did not notice last year? I dunno, I just know I had a great time and I saw some great cars.
What’s up with this Renault 17? It was a very niche vehicle that was sold on and off in the US alongside the Le Car until 1979. The vehicle began its life with a 1565 cc motor with 90 horses. Later on, it was upgraded to 1645cc engine rated at 108 horses with atop speed of just a hair over a 100 miles an hour. They were not known for their performance but they were known for their industry-leading fuel economy with some Renault 15’s and 17’s getting well over 30 MPG. The model was later replaced by the quirky Renault Fuego.
I’m not 100% sure this exact Renault 17 will be there but the Boston Cup Classic Car Show announced a Renault 17 will be in attendance of their concourse level show. If it is indeed this one, you will not be disappointed.
The Show n’ Shine raises money for the “Make a Wish” charity of New Hampshire. It is their goal to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness and as such, a record-breaking total earnings for the 50/50 raffle was well over $5000 cash that a lucky winner got to take half of home. Well over 600 cars were in attendance and they were some great cars. Make this show a priority for next year.
